Tall garden phlox is a great plant, and new varieties improve upon what was already good. Fashionably Early Crystal blooms around 2-3 weeks earlier than typical tall phlox. It also has mildew resistance, thick leaves, and spreads (but not too much) in the garden. It blooms in May for me in Tennessee and then continues to bloom for months, it will form seed heads which can be removed or not but will continue to put up new flowers. No major pest of disease problems, deer aren't much of an issue with them. The stems seem strong, I rarely have wind or rain knock them over. It can get 32 inches tall, eventually spread to 30 inches wide after several years. Hardy in zones 4-8. With the height is good for the middle or back of the garden. The flowers on this guy are a pure pure white. Often you'll find white flowers that are really cream, or almond, or ermine, but these are white. I do not think I have another plant that is this pure white and this showy. My white butterfly bushes also produce pure white flowers and a lot of them, but for flower to foliage ratio this one here wins for sure. I have a white flower bed on my property full of just white flowers. Some people call that a moon garden, I call it a bridal garden, but whatever you call it I like the white flower mass planting. I use this phlox all over that bed. However I also use it in other mixed color beds when I want something tall and white to provide contrast with more colorful flowers. When you put a white flower next to a red one, it makes the red pop, and the same for pink, etc. I ship starter plants well rooted in 3.5 inch pots or larger. Everything I ship has been inoculated with premium mycorrhizal fungi that form a symbiotic relationship with the roots that increases plant health and after planting such fungi should continue to colonize the nearby plants of your garden.
