Cautions A small number of children, teenagers, and young adults (up to 24 years of age) who took antidepressants ('mood elevators') such as desvenlafaxine during clinical studies became suicidal (thinking about harming or killing oneself or planning or trying to do so). How to use Desvenlafaxine comes as an extended-release (long-acting) tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. Take desvenlafaxine at around the same time every day. Possible side effects Speak with your healthcare provider if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: dryness, stinging, burning or irritation in the nose, tiredness, weakness, vomiting, nausea, joint or muscle pain, nosebleeds. More serious possible side effects that you should consult with your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help include; vision problems, fever, sore throat, chills, cough, and other signs of infection, whistling sound from the nose, hives, rash, itching, swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs, hoarseness, wheezing, chest tightening, difficulty breathing or swallowing, white patches in the throat, mouth, or nose. Missed dose Use the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one.
