The plant grows out of a bulb containing enough nutrients for developing its big flowers. A 34/36 cm bulb may produce 3 flower stalks. Each stalk may have 4 to 5 big flowers. The amaryllis bulbs listed here are in a jumbo size (36/38 cm). Amaryllis may grow either indoors during the cold season or outdoors when it becomes warm. Most interestingly, amaryllis has a wide planting time range and therefore, having bulbs planted sequentially every week to 10 days, the plants will bloom sequentially with flowers lasting up to more than 6 months during the year.Magic Green is a unique Dutch Variety producing huge flowers of special beauty, Recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society. Its flower petal tips are sharper than other amaryllis varieties. The petals are in a light green color, textured and outlined by a red color along the edges and flanking the central veins which are slightly whiter. The flowers are centered by a light green throat.Care tipsTime course Bulb dormancy: At least 8 to 10 weeks Bulb planting time: October to AprilStart to flower after planting: 6 to 8 weeksFlower lasting on each plant: 7 to 10 weeks.Flowering season: Around Christmas to the end of JuneGet startedAmaryllis does not need a special potting mix. However, the soil used should be well drained. The bulbs do not need much soil to grow. When planted, about one inch of the bulb should be above the potting mix. After planting, water the pot to a point enough to settle the potting mix. Then water the plant sparingly until the sprouts grow out. Then water lightly when the soil becomes dry. Too much water will easily cause the bulb to rot. Give the bulb as much sunlight as possible during the cold winter and in the early spring.Keep blooming longerTo enjoy blooming longer, keep the plant in a cool place with less or no direct sunlight. Removing spent flowers and flower stalks to reduce nutrient consumption. New flower shoots may grow out after removing spent flowers. To have even longer blooming time, bulbs can be planted sequentially every week or 10 days until the end of April. In this way, the plants will bloom sequentially. Care after blooming.After blooming, remove the flower stalks but not leaves. Amaryllis plants can be either planted to the ground or moved outdoors in pots if the weather becomes warm. Keep the soil slightly moist but not soggy. The plants can be fed lightly.
