Calathea Lancifolia (Goeppertia insignis), or Rattlesnake Plant, a flowering plant species of the Marantaceae family, is a unique "gift plant" with its long, thin leaves, ruffled edges, and purplish-red eye-catching color on the undersides. This is an evergreen perennial with air-purifying and toxin-removing effects. Calathea Lancifolia has a medium growth rate and can reach approximately 30 tall. Its yellow flowers usually bloom in the late spring. Calathea Rattlesnake is a medium-light plant, it needs medium to low indirect sunlight. It grows well in most indoor conditions, but avoid harsh direct sunlight to prevent sunburn. This prayer plant relative needs regular watering about twice a week to keep its soil slightly moist. Watering should be more frequent during spring and summer (3 times per week) and should be reduced in the winter (once every 5-6 days or when the topsoil is dry to the touch). This plant needs soil that is nutrient-rich, and able to retain some moisture while also being able to drain. Well-drained soil is not recommended. Choose a peat-rich potting mixture. This houseplant thrives in temperatures of 65F-75F. It is vital to ensure the room temperature does not fall below 60F. This plant should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.Calathea Lancifolia or Rattlesnake Plant is considered non-toxic and safe for pets.USDA Zone 11-12
