President Donald Trump has arrived in the Netherlands for NATO's annual meeting after injecting some uncertainty over whether the U.S. would abide by the mutual defense guarantees outlined in its treaty.

THE HAGUE (Reuters) -NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Tuesday he had no doubt the United States is committed to the alliance's Article 5 mutual defence clause, after remarks by President Donald Trump cast renewed doubt on his willingness to protect allies.

Trump, en route to the NATO summit, once again raises questions about his commitment to the alliance’s pledge of mutual defense.
