Retailers are ramping up hiring for the holidays, but fewer seasonal employees are expected to be taken on this year to help customers in stores and assemble online orders in warehouses.

While seasonal hiring is expected to be lighter this year because of a softer job market and tightened consumer spending, here’s a look at who is hiring.

Retailers are set to add a total of 520,000 jobs in Q4, down from 564,200 in 2023, marking the second-lowest total since 2009.
