It’s called a supermoon — or in this case a super harvest moon — because it will be full at a time when it is unusually close to Earth on its elliptical orbit.

International Observe the Moon Night starts on Saturday, according to NASA. That event began in 2010 for lunar lovers around the world to join in celebration of Earth's natural satellite.
