Ukraine struck a key oil terminal in the Russian port city of Novorossiysk overnight, causing infrastructure damage and igniting a blaze, as deadly overnight Russian strikes pounded Kyiv.
In all, 25 locations across Ukraine, including the capital city Kyiv, were hit, leaving many areas without electricity and heating. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said on Telegram that major energy facilities were damaged in the Poltava, Kharkiv and Kyiv regions, and work was under way to restore power.
Moscow’s attacks on gas supplies, the main source of warmth for most Ukrainian households, could plunge millions into the cold.
A Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital has killed one person and wounded at least 15, emergency services have said.
"Each affected refinery or oil terminal is minus millions of dollars for the Kremlin's war machine," an unnamed Security Service of Ukraine [SSU] source told state news agency Ukrinform. "We will continue to deprive the aggressor of resources until he [Russian President Vladimir Putin] loses the ability to wage this war."
