(NEXSTAR) — An incredibly strong geomagnetic storm brought the northern lights into California, Arkansas, and even Florida, all areas that rarely get a chance to see the celestial colors. Much of the U.S. may again get to see the aurora Wednesday, if conditions pan out.
The northern lights could be visible from a much larger portion of the northern United States than usual on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as X-class flares from the sun days earlier impact the Earth.

Though the aurora does occasionally appear in Wisconsin, it is rare to see a display as dazzling and widespread as Nov. 11 and 12.
