The northern lights could be visible from a much larger portion of the northern United States than usual on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as X-class flares from the sun days earlier impact the Earth.
The northern lights reached as far south as Florida overnight, thanks to some strong geomagnetic storming. If we’re lucky, we may get another glimpse again Wednesday night.
Though the aurora does occasionally appear in Wisconsin, it is rare to see a display as dazzling and widespread as Nov. 11 and 12.
