Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman has been released from a hospital intensive care unit and into a rehabilitation facility to continue his recovery from a politically-motivated attack in June, a family spokesperson tells CNN Tuesday.

Sen. John Hoffman, of the state's Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, was initially hospitalized in critical condition after he and his wife were shot at their Minneapolis-area home.
