Mulvaney said on Thursday that a potential informer would have to know where Trump was storing documents at Mar-a-Lago.

Former acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney surmised that a source "very close" to former President Donald Trump informed authorities where classified material was stashed in Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.

"If you know where the safe is and you know the documents are in 10 boxes in the basement, you are pretty close to the president," Mick Mulvaney said.

Mulvaney, who resigned from the administration after the Capitol riot, met with the House panel for about 2½ hours Thursday.
