Castiglione announced his retirement after a five-season stretch as what many call a "legendary" run as OU's athletic director.

Castiglione will hold a news conference Tuesday to announce his planned retirement. Castiglione will be joined by OU Board of Regents Chair Anita Holloway and OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. Harroz announced in an email Monday the program's chair of football, Randall Stephenson, will lead the search for a new AD.

Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione, who has led the Sooners since 1998, will retire from his full-time responsibilities during the upcoming school year, the university announced Monday. Castiglione and other members of Oklahoma's administration will hold a news conference Tuesday.
