A wildfire destroyed a historic lodge at the Grand Canyon's North Rim and some political leaders want to know if the fire was mismanaged. One fire expert said officials should approach policy changes carefully because controlled burns are still critical to forest health.

The National Park Service is defending its decisions regarding letting the Dragon Bravo Fire burn before it got out of control.

Officials have closed the North Rim of the Grand Canyon as the White Sage Fire burns near the town of Fredonia. Just 35 miles south, the Bravo Dragon Fire has destroyed structures inside the park.

In January, two big wildfires in Los Angeles destroyed thousands of homes, and Southern California Edison power lines are suspected of sparking one of them.
